Rental & POS for ski and snowboard shops

The counter software for a shop with a queue out the door.

Bookings, contracts, stock and returns. Built inside a working rental shop in the Romanian Carpathians, because nothing else did the job on a Saturday morning in February.

Hosted, on your own domain. Your data and your signed contracts stay yours.

Saturday, 08:40

The shop is full and the queue is not moving.

This is the hour the software is judged in.

On paper and a spreadsheet

  • Sizes asked again at every visit
  • Contracts written by hand and filed in a drawer
  • Nobody knows which skis are out and which are in the workshop
  • The internet drops and everything stops
  • February's figures arrive in June

Liftline

  • Returning customers arrive with last season's sizes already filled in
  • Signed on the tablet, stored as a PDF, e-mailed before they leave
  • Every item barcoded: out, in, in service, retired
  • No connection? Keep trading. It syncs when the line returns
  • What earned and what sat, by the time you lock up

Three screens, one system

The counter, the phone in their pocket, and the queue.

One system with the same stock and the same prices behind all of it.

What's in it

Everything from the booking to the skis going back on the rack.

counter

Serve the queue

Scan, size, take payment, sign. Returning customers arrive by name or phone with last season's sizes already there.

contracts

Signed, filed, e-mailed

The customer signs on the tablet. It becomes a PDF, is stored with the rental and sent before they leave the shop.

stock

Know where every item is

Every unit barcoded and tracked. Packages that bundle skis, boots and poles into one contract line and one scan.

workshop

Service before it bites

Count hires per pair and flag what is due. Warn at the counter, or refuse the hire. Your rule, your threshold, off by default.

figures

Reports that answer questions

Which gear earns and which sits. Demand by day, so you know what next February looks like before you buy for it.

partners

Hotels and instructors

Commission calculated per line and a statement you can send them, rather than a number estimated at month end.

When the mountain's internet goes

It keeps trading with no connection at all.

Mountain internet fails on exactly the days you cannot afford it to. The till does not stop: rentals, returns and check-ins are taken offline and sent up when the line comes back.

The hard part is not storing them. It is making sure a sale taken twice does not become two rentals and two missing skis. That is tested on real hardware, in a real outage, every release.

  • 01Rentals and returns, offlineTake payment and hand over the gear with no connection.
  • 02Replays exactly onceEach queued sale carries its own reference, so a retry cannot double-count stock.
  • 03Nothing silently droppedA queued item that fails is reported, not forgotten.
  • 04Backed up nightlyAnd the restore is rehearsed end to end, not assumed.

Comparing us with anyone else

Six questions worth asking every supplier you talk to.

Including us. We will not publish a table scoring competitors we have not run a season on. Ask them these yourself, and hold us to the same answers.

The question
Liftline
Can I take a rental with the internet down? And when it comes back, can a retry double-count my stock?
Yes
Is my shop's data in its own database?Or in one big table beside every other shop?
Its own
If I stop paying, can I still take returns?Read my signed contracts? Export my customers?
All three
Does your DIN feature claim to set release values? If the answer is anything but a firm no, ask who signs for it.
Indicative only
What does it cost per booking?Per user? Per season? Is there a cut of what I take?
Nothing
How many languages does the customer side speak? Not the admin screens. The booking page and the kiosk.

Straight answers

What it will not do.

Two things get claimed in this market that we will not claim, and one thing about us you should weigh before you buy.

It does not set your bindings.

The worksheet calculates an indicative skier code to ISO 11088 and shows its workings. It is a starting point for a qualified technician, who sets and verifies the actual release value on a calibrated device and signs for it. The caveat is on the screen and on the contract, and cannot be switched off.

It is not your fiscal cash register.

Revenue recorded here is management information. It does not replace a fiscal till and files nothing on your behalf. Reconcile against your Z-report as you do now. Anyone claiming their rental software handles your fiscal obligations is telling you something your accountant will disagree with.

It is young, and it runs one shop.

Built for a real business and used by it every day of the season. It is not a twenty-year-old product with a call centre, and we will not pretend otherwise. What you get instead is the person who wrote it answering the phone, and changes that ship in days.

Your customers, your currency

Twelve languages, and the money in yours.

The counter, the booking page and the kiosk all speak the customer's language. You pick one currency for the shop and everything is written in it: prices, contracts, receipts, reports. Nothing converts behind your back.

If you stop paying

  • Returns still workYour customer is not part of a billing dispute. Gear comes back either way.
  • Contracts stay readableA signed agreement is a legal document, not a feature.
  • Exports keep workingYour data leaves with you, in a format you can open.
  • {warn} days' warning, then {grace} days' graceOnly new rentals and bookings stop, and only after all of that.

Written into the software and tested on every release, not promised in a sales meeting.

Questions

The ones shop owners actually ask.

How long does it take to get running?

Days, not months. We set up your shop, load your catalogue and print your barcode labels. The counter takes about an hour to learn, because it is built for seasonal staff who started yesterday.

What happens to my data if I leave?

It is yours and it leaves with you, exported in a format you can open: contracts, customers, rentals and stock. We do not hold your season hostage.

Do I need new hardware?

A tablet or a laptop, and ideally a Bluetooth barcode scanner that costs about the same as a pair of poles. It runs in a browser, so anything modern works.

Can it handle a second shop?

Today each shop is its own licence and its own database. Several locations under one view is on the roadmap. Tell us if that is what you need and it moves up.

Does it take card payments from customers?

It can, but it is off by default and we will not switch it on until your accountant has told you how card money sits beside your fiscal till. Most shops we know are almost entirely cash.

Who is behind it?

A working ski and snowboard rental shop in the Romanian Carpathians, and the person who wrote the software for it. That is the whole company, and it is why the offline behaviour is real rather than a bullet point.
